Seven Magical Reasons I Love the Phillies

Today the Phillies dropped their magic number to seven. For those who don't know what a magic number is, it is the amount of wins by a team combined with losses by another team that are needed for the team to make the playoffs. The Phillies magic number drops every time the Phillies win and/or the Braves lose. So right now the magic number to win the NL East is at seven and the magic number for the Phillies to clinch a playoff berth is at one. To think with 18 games left the Phillies can already clinch a playoff spot. It is truly amazing and just a symbol of how spectacular this season has been in Phillies baseball. So in honor of the Phillies lucky seven, here is my Letterman Top Ten version of Seven Magical Reasons I Love the Phillies.

Magical Reason Why I Love the Phillies #7
The Phillie Phanatic is the best mascot and the only one who get away with dressing up like Lady Gaga and whipping his wig back and forth like Willow Smith.

Magical Reason Why I Love the Phillies #6
All kidding aside on this one. Harry Kalas. The man, the myth, the legend. He is truly immortalized in Phillies history and this year got a wonderful tribute and hand crafted statue to prove it.

This one is five reasons. Halladay. Lee. Hamels. Oswalt. Worley. Enough said.

Magical Reason Why I Love the Phillies #4
Charlie Manuel and the Coaching Staff. Enough cannot be said about how important Charlie and his staff are to this team. They add to the complexion of the team and when it comes to helping the players do their best, these guys are tops.

Magical Reason Why I Love the Phillies #3
The Phillies own number three, Hunter Pence and the guy that brought him here, Ruben Amaro Jr. Ruben always seems to know how to pull the trigger at the right time and I can't say enough about HP. He may not be the most conventional player but he is just so fun to watch plus he gave us, let's go eat.

When October begins there is no place better to be than Citizen's Bank Park. It is electric, the atmosphere is amazing and the Phillies playoff runs are the greatest thing to hit Philly since sliced bread. True story.

And the #1 Magical Reason Why I Love the Philies... (Drumroll please. Thank you.)
The players. Chase, Ryan, Jimmy, Placido, Shane, Raul, Hunter, Carlos, John Jr., the pitchers and all of the guys off the bench makes this team who they are. Each player contributes to the personality and character of this team and are all important. Whether it is the swagger Jimmy brings, the heart Chase has or the fun Shane adds all of these guys are something special. Plus, they look so good in those red pinstripes!
